We can assist with alterations and
additions to your existing home.

Our chosen team of designers can work with you in the design phase and work together with our construction team to ensure a seamless service. Alternatively, we can also work with your preferred architect or draftsperson and any existing plans that you may have.

At Eikon Build, we appreciate the value of adding something to an already existing home.   We understand the importance of creating something new and improved that compliments the integrity and character of an existing building.

As the journey is as important as the destination, we will do what we can, to minimise any disruptions to you during construction.

STEP 1

Initial design meeting

We will have our first meeting at your home or at the property which you wish to alter or add to. This on-site meeting will enable us to familiarise ourselves with the existing building and to give us a clear understanding of your building requirements and objectives.

At this meeting, we will also have the opportunity to explore your needs, objectives and your budget. We consider things such as function, size and relationship between spaces, character and image, and a host of other considerations that affect how you will live in your home. It is an opportunity for us to get to know you and your family’s needs and wants.

We will also review any plans that you may have of your alterations and additions which have been prepared by your preferred architect and/or draftsperson.

In the event you do not have any plans, our chosen experienced designers which includes draftspersons and architects are ready to work together with you to ensure that any alterations and additions encompasses your wants, needs, and aspirations.

STEP 2

Gathering necessary information

We will need to gather and evaluate information relating to the existing home. This step may include our team obtaining the original working drawings and structural engineering. We may also need to obtain property and land searches, geotechnical and topographical reports.

STEP 3

Concept design

(for design and construct alterations and additions only)

Once we have all the necessary information, we are ready to create a concept design of the alteration and additions to your home.

During this step we have a look at your site and existing home and determine the functionality of any additions or alterations to your home.

Throughout this step, concept diagrams and rough sketches of the alterations and additions are created and refined until we create a final concept design to your satisfaction and approval.

STEP 4

Staying on budget

With a final concept design in tow, our estimator puts together a cost estimate for the alterations and additions to your home. If required, we will look at ways of refining the concept design of any alterations and additions to fit within your budget.

STEP 5

Final design

(design and construct alterations and additions only)

We will submit the concept design to the local authorities, as you may require a planning permit before finalising the design of the alterations and additions to your home.

Once we receive a planning permit (if required), we will then start to prepare working drawings and specifications, which are necessary documents translated into the technical language required for the building and construction phase.

STEP 6

Selections

During this phase we meet with you in order to select fixtures and fittings for your alterations and addition to your home, which may include lighting, plumbing, brickwork, window treatments, and floor coverings, just to name a few. This is an exciting step. At Eikon Build we understand the significance of getting the “finishing touches” right. Our experienced team are here to help you each step of the way.

STEP 7

Building permits

Now we have finalised your final design of the alterations and additions to your home, we will require a building permit from the local authority, prior to the construction phase. Our team has extensive experience in liaising with local authorities and making applications to obtain the necessary building permits.

Construction

With our necessary permits in tow, we are ready to build your new home.

Throughout each step of the construction phase, our team will keep you informed and up to date about the progress of the alterations and additions to your new home. Our team understands the importance of minimising disruption to your lives, particularly if you stay in your home during construction.
